fischer fastens the world's largest and tallest observation wheel in Dubai

Fixing technology from the Black Forest secures new landmark in the Middle East

fischer fastens the world's largest and tallest observation wheel in Dubai
The wheel may not have been reinvented in Dubai, but it is bigger and higher than any other: the Ain Dubai observation wheel sets a world record and is the Middle East's new major landmark. fischer fixing and system solutions ensure that the observation wheel stands securely on the island destination Bluewaters.
After the filling of several thousand tons of sand and numerous newly built flats and hotels, the artificial island Bluewaters in the United Arab Emirates was ready for a project of superlatives. Ain Dubai will welcome its first visitors in October 2021.
The developer of the project is Dubai Holding, a diversified global investment company with operations in 13 countries and more than 20,000 employees in ten key sectors: Real Estate, Hospitality, Leisure & Entertainment, Media, Information & Communication Technology, Design, Education, Retail, Manufacturing & Logistics and Science.
Various façade and installation systems as well as heavy-duty fixings from the fischer group of companies were used to construct the base of the observation wheel. The fischer fixing and system solutions firmly connect the plinth panels to the steel profiles. In hollow core slabs, the fischer Universal Mortar FIS V, together with suitable system components, anchored the add-on parts firmly in the subsoil. When inserting the anchor rod, a fischer anchor sleeve ensured that the mortar was distributed exactly where it was needed and that an optimum form fit was created in the chambers of the building material. In concrete, the fischer FAZ II bolt anchor was also used for the erection of the steel structure of the "observation wheel substructure".

The modular fischer universal rail system FUS was used to fix the supporting structure. With their clever push-through connections, the mounting rails enabled the quick and easy fixing of associated system components, such as the FCN Clix M sliding nut for mounting the pipe clamps with fischer threaded rods and U-nuts. Another system component was, among others, the universal angle bracket UWS. The WK 100 universal angle bracket was used to connect the FUS mounting rails with screw and FCN Clix P sliding nut to the anchoring base and to further strengthen and stabilise the supporting structure. fischer façade systems were also used to fix cement boards to the fischer secondary structure.
